IPC100/110

Q1,How to increase the speed of IPC100/110's disk?[edit]

If you would like to speed up the Disk, you need to follow the following steps.

A. Restore the BIOS settings to the factory default values.
B. Edit file /boot/grub/grub.conf and add parameters “all-generic-ide pci=nommconf” to the end of line “kernel/vmlinuz-xxx…”.
C. Execute command “hdparm –t /dev/hda” to check out the speed of disk, where hda is our test sample, you should accord to your real
   situation to properly modify.
D. This method is suitable to IDE, SATA, and Compact Flash Card.

Q2, Could I have both SATA and Compact Flash Card at the same time?[edit]

Yes, you can select any of the following combinations to your IPC100/110.

A. IDE (primary), CF card (slave).
B. SATA (primary), IDE (slave).
C. SATA (primary), CF card (slave)

But remember, you have to disable the SATA jumper setting if you don’t want to use SATA as a storage device, otherwise, the system would need much time to detect the boot device.

If you would like to use “CF(primary), IDE(slave)”, it might have some BUGs, because IPC100 only be able to detect CF, meanwhile directly ignore IDE device. Thus, we don’t suggest customers use this combination as their production systems.

Q3, Is it possible to upgrade to a newer BIOS? If yes, how can I do that?[edit]

Yes, but it depends. If your version is IPC100/110 1.1 G, no need to upgrade BIOS. But if your version is 1.6G, then you can upgrade your BIOS to version IPC1B002.ROM. Please contact us if you would like to upgrade it.

Suggestion for upgrading BIOS: Firstly, you should build up a DOS USB booting tool and copy the files (ask us to get) to this USB, then, execute command in REAME, where * means the exact name of BIOS.

Q4, How can I easily to enter BIOS SETUP with USB keyboard?[edit]

1> Frequently press Keys F4 and Del,forward to the main menu "Boot" option when successfully enter BIOS setting screen. Enter the item
"Boot Setting Configuration" and set the value of "Quick Boot" to "Disable". Save and Exit.Rapidly and frequently press "Del"
again when the system booting up, that would be easier to enter BIOS SETUP.

2> Use PS/2 keyboard instead of USB interface.(We will provide this method soon)
